Rachael Rushing completed her Master’s degree in Saxophone Performance from Ithaca College (Ithaca, NY) with a full assistantship, in May of 2013 before heading for Wylie, TX. Prior to this she received her bachelor’s of music education degree and teaching certificate from Eastern Michigan University (Ypsilanti, MI).
While in school, Rachael performed with the EMU Wind Symphony and the Ithaca College Wind Ensemble as the principle saxophonist. She is also a recipient of the William Stewart Undergraduate Soloist Competition (2008) at EMU and a two time recipient of the EMU Chamber music Competition (2008-2009). Rachael’s saxophone quartet, Sine Nomine has also participated in the MTNA competition. Her main teachers have included Dr. Steven Mauk, Dr. Max Plank EMU, and Dr. Allison Adams.
She has been teaching lessons and coaching ensembles privately for a number of years to saxophonists of all ages and levels and is excited for a great year in the Wylie ISD.
